Welcome to EnglishWheels.com! Here you will find English Wheels for the hobbyist and for the metal-working professional. All of our English Wheels feature heavy-duty construction and are MADE IN USA.

English Wheels are used to gradually work compound curves into sheet metal. They are often used to smooth and refine the shape of a panel formed on a sand bag or over a forming head. If you think of the English wheel as a stretching machine you’ll be on the right track. The upper and lower wheels only make contact in a very narrow area thinning the metal along the track. This selective thinning has the effect of raising the contact area as well as curving the panel mainly along the axis of the wheel “track”. The metal is basically moved to produce a “W” tracking pattern. The tighter the “W” pattern the more pronounced the curvature will be. Typically the “W” pattern is repeated across or at right angles to, the previous passes to create the compound curve common to most automotive panels. Practice on some flat pieces of scrap metal to see how pattern variations effect the metal’s shape. Eastwood’s English Wheels are most commonly used on .035” (about 20 gauge) steel or .050” (about 18 gauge) aluminum, but are capable, with increase operator effort, to be used on up to 16 gauge mild steel and 16 gauge aluminum.
